Why "Second Parent?"
Instead of letting labels define us, why don't we make them our own? After going through the second parent adoption process, I felt like our social and legal landscapes were defining who I should be. I didn't want to be a "second parent." I wanted to be a mom. A parent. Second Parent for me, is about redefining those two words.
I hope these platforms can help support and celebrate non-bio moms, second parents, and queer parents. We hold unique histories, but share common threads. There is power from releasing a story.
